We would use if a few times, but not more than 3 before we had to purchase a new mop. The Extra Large Kaiser KaiserFlex Silicone Grill Basting Brush is great for applying sauce on grilled BBQ Chicken. We have always used a mop style applicator but the greasy sauce was so hard to clean up and sometime, the metal bands around the mop would rust. The silicone brush washes up beautifully in the dishwasher. I own 3 or 4 different sizes and highly recommend them.
It also makes unwieldy to use. The handle is also the right length. The brush head itself is just the size I was looking for in a barbeque brush and works fine. If I had known the handle was actually a metal loop instead of a solid material, I would have never purchased it. However, I could not tell from the picture that the handle is metal, not solid. Using a handle that is essentially a piece of thick wire bent in two feels uncomfortable and unbalanced in your hand. Because I like the brush head, I just wrapped the handle in duct tape. Not a perfect fix, but better than the original design of the handle.
I brush bagettes with an egg wash and it's gentle enough for that. I'm amazed at how well this works. Some have complained it doesn't hold as much as a boar bristle brush. It is very gentle. It also doesn't take a set like a bristle brush. I think it does but you need to use it differently.
It's just great. I should have been using these for years. Cleans beautifully in the dishwasher and is heat resistant enough to stir melting butter and hot sauces on the stove. This brush needs to be dipped deeply to take on a good load. Since it doesn't have a ferrule like a bristle brush it's not a problem to dip the bristles all the way to the top. This one is big enough to use on a gas grill too and it won't melt or stick.
I will be buying more of these.
Well-made, big, heat resistant, but hard to wash off the extra-pungent barbeque sauce odor.
Super brush and very easy clean up by hand or just toss in the dish washer. I've tried a few different silicone brushes and I really like this kaiser a lot. If you want a great brush for brushing milk or egg on pastry try the smaller mario batalli one, the bristles on that one are flat and each one is ridged great for applying liguids. The bristles are thinner and closer together then other brands so it really holds a lot of sauce. They are also more flexable because they are longer. But if you are looking for an excellent basing/barbq brush get this one, it's really super. Great gift idea too.
